Based on the novel by John Katzenbach, the story centers on Tommy Hart (Farell), a wealthy law student who finds himself with a job as an officer’s aide in World War II because of his is father’s political pull. When Lieutenant Lincoln Scott, a black POW, is thrown into a German war camp after being accused of murdering a fellow white prisoner, top ranking Colonel William McNamara (Willis) is assigned to defend him. Hart must struggle against his privileged past to prove himself and when he stumbles on a plot during his investigation of the case, he must choose between his country, his own morality and his life.
