High school football was everything to the people of Alexandria, Virginia in 1971. But when the school board is forced to integrate an all-black school with an all-white school, the very foundation of football's great tradition is put to the test. A black coach and a white coach band together to mold a group of angry, unfocused boys into a dynamic, winning team, and help the team and the town to overcome prejudice and intolerance.
