JAWS 2

Roy Scheider, Lorraine Gary

Universal; Directed by Jeannot Szwarc

Rated PG; 116 minutes; 1978

It's been four years since that marauding great white shark terrorized the small summer resort town of Amity, but the scars remain — on the residents as well as on the town itself. So when Police Chief Brody gets word that a luxury boat, from which two men had been skin-diving, has been found drifting in the main channel, with no trace of what happened to its occupants, the report triggers a fear in Brody's mind — one that has come up everytime there has been a similar incident during the past four years. Many of Brody's associates feel that he's paranoid on the subject of sharks. And maybe he is. But it happened once — and the shark he destroyed wasn't the only one in the ocean! Brody continues his investigation, not yet aware that it will lead him to an excruciating race against time and an incredibly suspenseful rescue mission — when this new great white shark attacks ten sailboats manned by teenagers, including his own two sons!

The same heart-stopping suspense and gripping adventure that enthralled movie audiences throughout the world in Jaws returns in this sequel. Roy Scheider, the hero of Jaws, reprises his role as the small-town police chief more concerned with saving his fellow townspeople's lives than their financial security. Lorraine Gary is again his patient wife and Murray Hamilton is still the myopic mayor of Amity. Producers Richard Zanuck and David Brown, director Jeannot Szwarc and a fine crew of special effects men help to make Jaws 2 a worthy sequel to a film classic.
